Gun crime has gone up

FIREARMS offences in England and Wales rose 4 per cent to 9,967 last year, Home Office figures revealed today.

There was a rise of 373 offences on the 2006 total, although gun deaths fell to 49, seven fewer than in the previous 12 months.

But ... but .... how can this be? After all, they made guns illegal, didn't they? Oh, yeah, right. Criminals don't give a damn about gun laws.

Firearms "offenses" went up 4%.

An offense could simply be owning a firearm without have proper documentation as required by law.

To say that "gun crime has gone up" based on these statistics is misleading.
